I got my first Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever (Tollers) in 2000, I had married a gamekeeper and wanted to learn how to pick up on a shoot. I loved Border Collies but knew I needed a gundog breed and my step-daughter, who had been looking at the Tollers, introduced me to them. I went up to Discover Dogs to meet the breed, fell in love and haven’t looked back. I love their intelligence, enthusiasm, cleverness, ingenuity and passion for life. Tollers would rather train you then the other way around so it is an interesting experience trying to persuade them that your way is better. My Tollers have taken me to Belgium, Holland and even Sweden showing and training in the Tolling Tests that take place there. I am proud to be the Toller representative for the club it is lovely to be a part of something that provides an encouraging environment for working minority retriever breed owners to develop their skills.
