The training day on the 15th June 2019 was well attended 5 Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers, 4 Irish Water Spaniels, 1 Cheaspeake Bay Retriever, 3 Curly Coated Retrievers & a honorary Chocolate lab.
Neil Varney started out by assessing each dog and handler and dealt with issues for each individual pair, working on control, delivery and for the more novice handlers commands and the use of the whistle. The more advanced dogs demonstrated their ability giving the more novice handlers a chance to view our handling techniques.
Sue, Judy, John with IWS & Sarah & Auriane with Tollers demonstrated some more advanced retrieves. After an excellent tea break hosted by Marie Bint we then all set out to do a walk up in rather heavy rape cover, challenging but to our surprise the dogs although not visible in the height of the cover managed some great retrieves. Neil then split off with the novice group and Judy went on with the advanced dogs to work on delivery, direction and blinds. A very successful day with some very happy owners having achieved so much with their dogs, thanks to Neil Varney. As always with our club events we finished with a group lunch &, raffle and a chance to chat over the days events a very sociable happy day indeed.
